This practical three-hour session teaches you how to plan and run a language group to support pupils with specific speech and language needs.

The programme is based on research carried out by Speech and Language UK, which found that a language group called Talk Boost running twice a week could improve children’s language by up to eighteen months in just nine weeks!

This course shares skills you can use to interact with pupils in a natural way that develops their language skills quickly.

The tools are based on the Hanen programme of parent-child interaction, an evidence-based approach that’s widely used by Speech and Language Therapists.

The course is delivered over two three-hour sessions, using video feedback.

Speech sound awareness groups help children listen to and identify sounds, learn about how sounds are made and how words are formed, and eventually to say new sounds.

This three-hour course shows you how to set up a group, supporting children who start school with speech sound delays.

Speech sound therapy helps children practise using the sounds they need to form words.

This workshop will teach you all about speech development and how to carry out a speech sound assessment.

It’s followed by individual mentoring sessions with our Speech and Language Therapist so your Teaching Assistants can deliver speech sound therapy independently.
